Diagnostics – TESTS AVAILABLE
Mineral – Iron, Zinc status
Zinc is a vital mineral for immune function, prostate health, blood sugar control, skin & collagen elasticity/strength
Blood Sugar – Finger prick blood test
Iris analysis – Iridology
Acid/alkaline balance – Self test kit
Acid/alkaline levels are measured on the “pH scale”; 7 is neutral, numbers below 7 show acidity, numbers above 7 show alkalinity. Our blood must be maintained between 7.38 and 7.42 exactly. The homeostatic controls of the body work hard to maintain this level, using minerals such as magnesium and potassium to buffer acidity, and calcium in more chronic conditions. We must have an “ionic gradient” to allow metabolism, showing as a healthy urine pH of about 6.8.
Acidic waste in the form of hydrogen (H+) ions becomes stored in our body. These ions are soaked up into the extracellular matrix (the “jelly” of proteoglycans and glycosaminoglycans which surrounds the cells, collagen fibres, capillaries, lymph vessels, nerves). All nutrients going into the cell, all waste products leaving the cell must travel the short distance through the matrix to the capillary or lymph vessel.
A healthy matrix is actually about the consistency of a thin jelly, but as it stores H+ ions it becomes more and more dense (like a thick jelly you could put a coin on top of). Just as our atmosphere can soak up a lot of smoke and pollution before we complain of smog, our matrix can absorb a lot of toxins before cellular health begins to suffer.
H+ ions are one of the main contaminants of the matrix, the “acidity” we often hear about. It is easy to test for excess acidity in the saliva and urine.
Urine is simply filtered blood, so makes the most reliable test. Urinary acid levels vary throughout the day and night with the cycles of assimilation and elimination, so a few tests are useful to get an average reading. Testing about 2 hours after breakfast gives a good baseline reading.
Systemic acidity can take quite a while to clear, see detoxification.
Heavy Metals – Urine test; lead, copper, cadmium, mercury
Chelating agents are available: Heavy Metal Detox, Broken Cell Chlorella Powder
Heavy metal toxicity is widespread, but impossible to diagnose without an effective test. Symptoms of low level poisoning are usually hard to define, often leaving a patient on the diagnostic/treatment merry-go-round.
Heavy metal contamination may be assessed through hair, blood or urine testing. The cost of hair mineral analysis is quite expensive, and test samples must be sent away, which takes about 2 weeks. Our clinic has found the quick results from this test kit are very helpful.
With this Multi Metal Test Kit you can inexpensively test yourself and your environment for heavy metals. For individuals a urine sample is the best, but saliva, perspiration or even blood may be used. To test your environment you will need a sample of dust e.g. from carpet, which must be soaked in distilled water.
The test result shows up as an easy to read colour meter. It can determine the presence of the metals lead, mercury, copper, zinc and cadmium. Multiple metal toxicities will show up as separate bands of colour in the test solution.
If you test positive for heavy metals the Multi Metal D-tox will safely chelate all the metals detected and more. Broken Cell Chlorella is specific to mercury chelation, and is a nourishing supplement.
We advise you to support your body’s channels of elimination during chelation therapy. This includes ample protein in the daily diet; also ample vegetables for anti-oxidant support and roughage to clear the bowel (see Nutrition for a Protein Counter). The Heel Detox Kit is very supportive and extremely easy to use. Liver herbs are also helpful.
